''There is an annual 'Gypsy of the Year' competition amongst casts of Broadway shows, organised by 'Broadway Cares/Equity fights AIDS.' This one took place in December 2001 at the Palace Theatre on a Tuesday so everyone could go. Casts devise sketches. For a month before, casts have collected money after their shows, and I announced the winner — and came dressed as a gypsy (pretending I didn't understand that a Broadway gypsy is a chorene.) That's Marian Seldes behind me.'' Enlarge
